MAXPRO IPM Strategy for Pest Prevention

First Line of Defence
“PREVENT ENTRY”
Having screens on windows & doors Sealing all holes including around pipes & wiring Keep drain covers in place. Inspecting all incoming supplies for infestation prior to storage Limit amount of packaging & stored goods .

Second Line of Defence
“PREVENT HARBOURAGE”
Remove areas where pests can live & breed: Removing disused equipment, water and waste lying around Having tight fitting lids on bins and bagging all waste before placing in bins Cleaning regularly, preventing build up of grease & waste especially behind fridges or where motors are running creating heat Store all food & equipment off the ground Store all food in tight lidded containers.

Third Line of Defence
“REGULAR MAINTENANCE”
Maintain a pest free environment through regular follow-up visits, Monitoring & detailed inspections.

Thorough Inspection

The extent of the inspection and the areas included will cover the entire site including grounds within the perimeter, all buildings and all areas within buildings. Each site will be divided into high-intermediate-low risk areas:

High risk areas

Areas where there is a greater risk of compromising food safety from pest activity or where the product is particularly high risk. Typical high risk areas and potential pests would be:

  • Incoming raw and packaged food and stored product pests
  • Finished goods warehouses and mice
  • Food preparation areas and flying insects

Intermediate risk

Areas where there is a risk of compromising food safety from pest activity but where the product is not particularly high risk.

Low risk areas

Areas where there is minimal risk of compromising food safety from pest activity or where the product is low risk
